EORI after Brexit
Since 2021 the United Kingdom is a third country. What that means for your number.
What changed
Since 1 January 2021 customs formalities apply to goods moving between the EU and the UK. British EORI numbers (GB…) are no longer valid in the EU.
EU companies
An existing EU EORI number, including a Lithuanian one, is sufficient for trade with the UK. You now lodge a declaration for every shipment.
British companies
A British company without an EU establishment can apply for a Lithuanian EORI number if its first customs formality in the EU takes place in Lithuania. A recent Companies House extract is required.
Tips
- Apply for the number before the first shipment
- Check that your British partner has a valid GB EORI
- Allow for customs clearance time in your planning
