What is an EORI number?
The identification number for everyone dealing with Customs in the EU.
Meaning
EORI stands for Economic Operators Registration and Identification. It is the registration number by which customs authorities in all EU member states recognise companies and persons that import, export or transit goods.
When do you need it?
- For every customs declaration (import and export)
- For customs transit and temporary storage
- When applying for customs authorisations
- As a carrier or forwarder lodging declarations
What does it look like in Lithuania?
A Lithuanian EORI number for a registered company is LT followed by the legal entity code (įmonės kodas). For a natural person it is LTLT followed by 13 characters. For a third-country applicant it is LT followed by the ISO country code and a reference code assigned by the authority.
Validity
The number is valid throughout the EU and remains valid as long as your company exists. You can check it any time in the EU register: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds2/eos/eori_validation.jsp
